Football is BACK

 Here we go! All summer long I think a lot of North American sports fans start to feel the itch for football. Today the wait is finally over with the Baltimore Ravens going into Kansas City to take on the defending champion Chiefs. 


Can I just say, the NFL schedule makers are always so good at their jobs. I can't think of a more exciting opening day matchup than KC vs Baltimore. Lamar Jackson has his playoff woes for sure but goodness if he isn't one of the more exciting regular season players of all time. The Ravens also always promise to have a great defense, something that should challenge the Chiefs early. KC is absolutely no slouch of course, Patrick Mahomes is the best player in the world and he looks to defend his title starting this week. The game could be Panthers vs Patriots and I still would be tuning in, but the fact that they packed a game of the year candidate into day 1 means it's all I'm going to be thinking about all day. 


The season should be fantastic too! The best part about the NFL is the parity. Every new season means a new team will emerge, a great team will fall and absolutely anyone could win it all. I am going to be dialed in to my Steelers all season long and hopefully will be writing reaction articles to all the games. I frankly predict that my Steelers will go 9-7 again this season, as they seem accustomed to doing. If they can establish a great run game and great defense, there could be some regular season upside there, either way I'll be screaming at the TV every week. 


Finally, I should cap this off with my official Superbowl prediction. I think that in the NFC, nobody has anywhere near the talent to match the 49ers, I think they make it out of the conference again and make it to the dance. In the AFC, it is hard to see Mahomes getting knocked out but I am boldly going to predict that the Houston Texans take a leap this year behind CJ Stroud. The Superbowl will end with the 49ers beating the Texans in an all time classic. I simply cannot wait. 


Rejoice sports fans, there's more than just baseball on now! I couldn't be happier.

Predicting the NBA Western Conference Standings

 Yesterday I wrote about my predictions for the Eastern Conference. It was pretty hard, some bold takes in there that are sure to make me look foolish in April. Today I'm embarking on the even more difficult task of projecting the Western Conference. As always readers, if you have a problem with these lists please let me know in the comments!  15. Portland Trailblazers  This is the only "easy" one on this list. The Blazers were not a good team last season. They have since traded one of their best players in Malcom Brogdon. They did however swing for an intriguing young player Deni Avdija that should help them out this year. They aren't a completely hopeless program. Former first overall pick DeAndre Ayton could have a resurgent season, "Timelord" Robert Williams may be healthy, Scoot Henderson in year two could show more flashes of being a productive NBA player. Predicting the NBA Eastern Conference Standings

 Ah August. What a time for me to start something like this when content is slim to none unless you're avidly following baseball. Something fun though might be predicting the NBA's standings for the upcoming season. Today we'll start with the Eastern conference. I think it'll be fun to do a retrospective at the end of the year and see how good I am at this prediction thing. Anyway, without further ado, here are your 2024-2025 Eastern Conference Standings:  15. Brooklyn Nets The Nets weren't the worst team in the league last year but this season will prove to be different.
