Short Superbowl Reaction

Boredom has driven me back to this sports blog! I am figuring out a new groove here where I hop on to write whenever I feel like I have something to say rather than forcing myself on here every day. When the Steelers start again I definitely will be on a reaction wave again, but until then I think I'll stick to just writing when and idea pops up! That being said, I almost skipped the Superbowl reaction because the game was so boring! But it's the game of the year so I suppose I have to say SOMETHING:

Chiefs got Embarrassed

No other way to put it. The Eagles dominated the Chiefs from start to finish with no sign of hope at any point throughout that game. Mahomes played the worst game I've ever seen him play in the NFL turning the ball over 3 times and looking panicked while being admittedly under pressure the entire game. There are a couple saving graces that I found fun and exciting about the game. The first being a white cornerback got a pick six on the biggest stage. When it happened I told my dad that I don't think I have ever even seen a white cornerback with my own eyes. He told me that I was crazy and that there are white CBs, upon that statement I of course Googled to find the first result telling me Cooper DeJean is the first relevant white CB in 20 years.  A white CB making a big play in the Superbowl for an elite defense, that's enough to carry me for the next decade. The second exciting thing for me was seeing Kenny Pickett get snaps in garbage time. Insane that a Superbowl had garbage time, but seeing Kenny play was pretty cool. Kenny might not be starting QB material on a serious NFL team but he's a solid top 45 QB in the world and should have a job as a very serviceable backup QB for the next decade should he want it. Now Kenny Pickett, Steelers legend, can add Superbowl Champ to his resume, not bad!

Halftime Show

I don't know, maybe it just wasn't for me. I appreciated all the references and social commentary by an artist in Kendrick who's awesome at doing just that for sure. I also liked SZA who is basically never disappointing. Overall though it felt like this was more a show for Kendrick fans and didn't really reach the mass audience like a halftime show is intended to do. That being said, I've seen mixed reviews with some people claiming they loved it so if you're one of those people, don't let me get you down, what do I know anyway!

Mahomes' Legacy

I was texting with a friend about the Mahomes vs Brady debate and how a 3peat could really boost Mahomes in that conversation when all is said and done. I found it interesting to show that Mahomes' entire career is only marginally better than Brady's career after he turned 40. Really shows how insane Brady is. Anyway, at this point put that conversation to rest. On the broadcast Brady kept trying to relate to the situation with his Superbowl losses and the entire time I was screaming "BRADY, YOU'VE NEVER BEEN DOWN 30+!!!" It was driving me nuts! For as awesome as Mahomes is and can be, an absolute stinker like this on the biggest stage is going to be used against him in the legacy debate forever. Unless he goes on to win 5 more Superbowls, I think the GOAT is still firmly Brady.

That's that! Super short but had to be done! Probably the most forgettable Superbowl in the last 10 years but there's bound to be one of those. Until next season NFL, go Steelers!
