Quick Last Night Recap

Alright! I have a busy one at work today but wanted to pump out some quick comments on the games that I got glimpses of last night. While I was mostly locked in to the Leafs game, there were a lot of highlights across the leagues that I have quick thoughts on, perfect for this quick smaller post. Have I emphasized enough the smallness of this post? Lets get into it


Leafs - Uh Oh

I watched this entire game and I have to say, feels like the Leafs got really unlucky. They had a crazy amount of scoring opportunities but were hitting posts or getting robbed. That happens in hockey, luckily they built up the 3-0 lead as a cushion. I will say now though, the pressure is ON. This big 4 of Matthews, Marner, Tavares and Nylander are 1-13 in games where they have a chance to close out a series. 1-13 almost feels fake. Everyone in the hockey universe now is expecting them to choke this series, Leafs fans included. They need to go out on Thursday and set the tone because if this gets to game 7 it will be pandemonium. 


Giannis Crash-Out

Before I get to that, the end of this Bucks Pacers game was insane and I barely got to see any of it. The game went to overtime and the Bucks had a 7 point lead with about 30 seconds left and they completely choked it away headlined by back to back mindboggling turnovers by Gary Trent Jr and a nasty crossover and layup by Haliburton over Giannis to win the game. Right after the game ended Haliburton's father was on the court for some reason chirping at Giannis, who then ran up to him to confront him head to head, hilarious. The two were separated and Giannis went to shake hands with everyone. When he got to Benedict Mathurin, Giannis gripped him too tight or something causing Mathurin to take exception and shove Giannis off which launched another shoving match. What a heartbreaking way for your season to end and a hilarious crash out that people are talking about more than the insane game that took place beforehand. As a Bucks hater, I am thrilled today. That team is likely doomed unless they get a bunch of young players for Giannis. 


Varsho Catch

You gotta watch this Daulton Varsho catch. I can't even do it justice but I'll try. A routine flyball that Varsho turned into maybe the catch of the year. Daulton stumbles and falls down in center field but still manages to make the catch while he's getting back up. One of the more insane catches I've ever seen and should be on my blog somewhere for sure, so now it is. 


And that's that! Nuggets won too which I enjoy! Now I gotta get back to work!!!

Predicting the NBA Western Conference Standings

 Yesterday I wrote about my predictions for the Eastern Conference. It was pretty hard, some bold takes in there that are sure to make me look foolish in April. Today I'm embarking on the even more difficult task of projecting the Western Conference. As always readers, if you have a problem with these lists please let me know in the comments!  15. Portland Trailblazers  This is the only "easy" one on this list. The Blazers were not a good team last season. They have since traded one of their best players in Malcom Brogdon. They did however swing for an intriguing young player Deni Avdija that should help them out this year. They aren't a completely hopeless program. Former first overall pick DeAndre Ayton could have a resurgent season, "Timelord" Robert Williams may be healthy, Scoot Henderson in year two could show more flashes of being a productive NBA player. Predicting the NBA Eastern Conference Standings

 Ah August. What a time for me to start something like this when content is slim to none unless you're avidly following baseball. Something fun though might be predicting the NBA's standings for the upcoming season. Today we'll start with the Eastern conference. I think it'll be fun to do a retrospective at the end of the year and see how good I am at this prediction thing. Anyway, without further ado, here are your 2024-2025 Eastern Conference Standings:  15. Brooklyn Nets The Nets weren't the worst team in the league last year but this season will prove to be different. After trading Mikal Bridges to the Knicks for draft picks and scraps, then recovering their first round pick from the Rockets, The Nets are in tank mode.
